Women and MLB: Perfect together

Women and MLB: Perfect together

Women and MLB: Perfect together The Ultimate Lineup

For all young female athletes hoping to work in baseball, your time has come!

Often referred to as America’s National Pastime, baseball has had a very active role in the shaping of this nation. From the Civil War to Civil Rights and all points in between and beyond, the game of baseball supports and reflects many aspects of American life, from culture to economics and technological advances.

It wasn’t long ago when women who wanted to work in baseball had limited options as to what jobs were available to them.   In recent years, many women have been appointed by Major League teams in nearly every area of the sport, including those previously considered only available to men.

Women have been appointed as coaches, scouts and executives. They are broadcasters, managers and general managers.  MLB is recognizing that female athletes have much to offer the game and are just as qualified as their male counterparts.  Hopefully, this is only the beginning of more doors opening for women in pursuit of careers in baseball.

As their roles in baseball and their impact on the game continue to grow, MLB acknowledges the many women who have carved out a place in history, many of whom are firsts in their field.  Learn more about these hard working and dedicated group of women making a lasting impact in America’s National Pastime.  Read more here:
