The Padres are coming off a dominant win of the Rockies last night and are looking to win the series today. Southpaw Kyle Hart is making his 3rd start of the season, and his first 2 starts could not have gone much differently. He earned his first Major League win back on April 1st against the Guardians. Pitching at Petco Park, he pitched 5 innings of 2 run ball. However, in his last start at Wrigley Field, he was awful. He gave up 5 runs and didn’t make it out of the 1st inning. Fortunately for him and the Padres, he’s back at home and is facing the WORST LINEUP IN BASEBALL! The Rockies were shutout yesterday and have scored just 40 runs on the season through 13 games. Already at 3-10, the Rockies are shaping up to be one of the worst teams in baseball this year. What they will try to do this year is see what they have in their young prospects, such as rookie Chase Dollander. Dollander is making his 2nd career start. In his first big league start, despite getting the win, he gave up 7 hits and 4 earned runs in just 4 innings of work against the Athletics. As they showed last night, the Padres have one of the BEST lineups in baseball! Luis Arraez, Fernando Tatis Jr., and Manny Machado form one of the most formidable top of the lineups in the game. Furthermore, thanks to the blowout yesterday, the Padres should have ALL of their PREMIUM relievers available! At the end of the day, these teams simply do not match up. If Hart can return to the form of his first start and keep the Rockies in check, the Padres shouldn’t have ANY ISSUES pouring on runs like they did last night and taking the series!
