Despite some iffy peripheral numbers, Cole Ragans has been one of the BEST pitchers in baseball this year! He ranks in the 95th percentile in xERA at 2.28, 95th percentile in xBA at .184, plus excellent whiff and strikeout rates! 34.5% whiff rate and 38.5% Strikeout rate! The Royals just played a 12-inning game last night against the Red Sox and they NEED length from their big time starter tonight. He’s thrown 94 or more pitches in 2 of his last 3 starts as well, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Ragans get pushed to 100 pitches or slightly more tonight. The key for him is being AGGRESSIVE! If he can attack the Red Sox tonight and not walk too many batters, Ragans SHOULD clear this and give the Royals a good chance to win!
