We’re nearing the end of the NBA and NHL regular seasons, and that means bettors should be extra vigilant when making bets. Teams start locking up playoff spots and look to give their starters rest, other teams have long since been eliminated from the playoffs and are ready to hit the golf course in the offseason, and even teams that haven’t clinched playoff spots officially start looking forward to the end of the regular season and the start of the postseason.
This doesn’t mean there’s no way to exploit the end of the regular season. However, it can be fruitful to pay attention to the teams that need wins at the end of the regular season, and those that don’t. In the NBA, for example, the Bulls and Warriors are two teams that need all the wins they can get as the year starts winding down. Those are two teams that are going to be playing with a different level of intensity than other teams that they’ll be playing. Of course, the Sportsbooks know this too and it’ll be reflected in the lines everyday. Sportsbooks aren’t that easy to fool, of course.
However, by using this line of thinking, it’ll better position you to be successful when betting at the end of regular seasons. Don’t run the risk of betting on players or teams who are mailing it in and not caring about the last few games. Trust your bankroll with players and teams that are in positions to where they need to win and play well.
