Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson are two of the best QBs in the league. In the case of Aaron Rodgers, he’s a sure-fire first ballot Hall of Famer. And yet, both QBs could be on new teams next year. So what does it mean for NFL Futures markets? Needless to say, whoever acquires either QB will become trendy picks to make the playoffs, win their division, and possibly even to win the Super Bowl. The Jets have been connected to Rodgers for a while. They hired his former OC in Green Bay, Nathaniel Hackett, to ostensibly try and lure Rodgers. The Jets went 7-10 with horrific QB play in 2022. They’d certainly be a trendy playoff pick if they were to acquire the 4 time MVP. Currently, they are +1600 to win the Super Bowl on FanDuel Sportsbook. If you think Rodgers going to NY is a foregone conclusion, you may want to make that bet now. Once any trade becomes official, the odds on the Jets to win the Super Bowl won’t be as good as they are today.
The same can be said for Lamar Jackson. If anyone in the NFC South makes a move to acquire him, for example, their odds to win the division goes up dramatically. The NFC is also considerably weaker than the AFC, so any NFC team acquiring him will have a far better chance of making it to the Super Bowl.
As for either of them winning MVP, that depends as much on their new weapons as it does their own play. Rodgers would have more weapons on the Jets, but would face significantly tougher defenses in his own division.
