Barbie’s 2023 Career of the Year dolls feature women in sports.

Mattel has created a new Barbie set for kids and adult Barbie fans with a love of sports.  Barbie’s 2023 Career of the Year dolls feature women in sports leadership jobs.

Barbie is honoring women in sports with its 2023 Career of the Year collection, called Women in Sports.  The set features four dolls, each representing a different career in the sports industry. The dolls are designed to encourage girls to pursue their dreams and develop life skills through sports.  Mattel’s latest release of Barbie dolls, the Women in Sports set, is a tribute to women who have made their mark in the sports industry.

“This year, knowing that women are severely underrepresented in the sports industry – from positions on the field to leadership in the locker room – Barbie is proud to introduce the Women in Sports lineup as the 2023 Career of the Year,” Mattel said in a release.

Their 2023 Career of the Year dolls, featured in the new Women in Sports set, highlight four careers in the sports industry to encourage girls to follow their dreams, even in an industry typically dominated by men. The new set includes a general manager, coach, referee and sports reporter.  The colleagues have diverse looks with different hair color, skin tones, eye colors and body types.

The four dolls in the set are:

General Manager Barbie: She is dressed in a blue-and-white pinstripe power suit, black loafers, and carries a smartphone and ID badge.

Coach Barbie: She wears a white Barbie jacket with matching athletic shorts, a pink headband, and carries a playbook and a pink megaphone.

Referee Barbie: She dons a black-and-white-striped referee shirt and black leggings, equipped with a headset, yellow flag, and silver whistle.

Sports Reporter Barbie: She wears a patterned purple dress with black heels and carries a pink Barbie notebook and microphone.

Kids can play out professional moments on and off the field with the storytelling pieces: a badge and smartphone for the GM; a clipboard and megaphone for the Coach; a whistle, headset and flag for the Ref; and a microphone and notepad for the Reporter.
