The Blue Jays have been struggling for much of the season so far, but they finally get a favorable matchup in a series against the White Sox. Tonight they said Jose Berrios to the mound, who may be their best starter so far this season. He’s been great, coming into tonight with a 2.82 ERA. He’s also been remarkable at home, with a sparkling 0.87 ERA in 3 starts at Rogers Centre! The White Sox counter with righty Erick Fedde, who has also been solid this year. He comes into today’s start with a 2.60 ERA, but he has really struggled on the road. He comes into today with an ugly 4.87 ERA on the road. He’s struggled on the road his entire career, in fact, with a 5.20 ERA in opposing ballparks. This game is ALL ABOUT what the Blue Jays can do offensively. They’re averaging just 3.64 runs per game. Their big hitters just aren’t performing. However, this is a good spot for them to get right. They’re at home with the better pitcher on the mound AND they should have their elite bullpen arms available. If Berrios can continue putting up zeroes at home, the Blue Jays shouldn’t have ANY ISSUES scoring some runs and winning the first game of this series!
