The NFL is officially back! We made it, folks! To kick off the 2024-2025 season, we have a rematch of the AFC Championship Game from last year. Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid are the best quarterback/head coach combo in the entire league right now. Andy Reid has been NOTORIOUSLY DIFFICULT to beat in September in part because he’s such a creative offensive mind that can spend the entire offseason scheming for new ways to attack defenses. The Chiefs knew they needed to upgrade offensively which is why they spent their first 3 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft on offense, headlined by 1st round pick Xavier Worthy, a wide receiver from Texas. They traded up to get him in fact, so you KNOW the Chiefs like what Worthy brings to the table. Meanwhile, Lamar Jackson led one of the most ELECTRIC offenses in the NFL last season. They averaged over 28 PPG in the 2023 season, and consistently did WHATEVER they wanted to do! In their game last year, the Chiefs won a defensive slugfest, 17-10. However, with both of these DYNAMIC offenses healthy and new schemes implemented, both Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson SHOULD have room to operate! Both teams ALSO have solid running games, so that will put EVEN MORE pressure on these defenses. If Mahomes and Jackson can be protected, they SHOULD be able to find their playmakers and make things happen!
