Xam’s Daily Gems:
Bengals Money Line -162
The Bengals come into this game with plenty of momentum. Jake Browning has played well in 2 straight games, and has led the team right back into the thick of the playoff race. The Vikings only scored 3 points last week and have named a new starting quarterback for this game. Going on the road in a hostile environment with uncertainty at QB isn’t the spot you want to be in. Star wide receiver Justin Jefferson is banged up coming into this game and running back Alexander Mattison will miss today’s game with a sprained ankle. The Bengals are at home and are the healthier team.
Colts -1.5 -105
Garnder Minshew has surprisingly kept the Colts in the race not only for a playoff spot, but incredibly, a shot at the AFC South title. Mitchell Trubisky struggled mightily in his first start 10 days ago against the Patriots, and now he has to go on the road against a quality opponent. Even with extra time to prepare, that’s a lot to ask for from a backup QB. Despite running back Jonathan Taylor missing this game, the Colts have shown to have enough offensive firepower to put points on the board. Running back Zack Moss has proven to be more than capable and Minshew has shown an ability to get his top targets involved. Avoiding turnovers against a stout Steelers defense will be key, as Trubisky has never shown a consistent ability to drive down the length of the field and score points.
Jared Goff Over 255.5 Passing Yards -110
Goff has struggled the past couple week on the road, but he gets to return home to the friendly confines of Ford Field in this game. He’s been better at home than he has on the road this year. He’s averaging over 273 passing yards per game and completing nearly 70% of his throws at home this season. He’s gone over this number in 2 of his last 3 home games and in his last home game, he threw for over 330 yards. The Lions haven’t been right offensively for a few weeks and this week is a good opportunity to get their dynamic offense back on track.
Jahmyr Gibbs Over 53.5 Rushing Yards -110
The Broncos have allowed the most rushing yards this season, Gibbs has covered this number in 6 of his last 7 games, and he’s also starting to consistently outplay David Montgomery. He’s getting more snaps because he’s producing, and as home favorites tonight, the Lions should be in a position to run the football. Gibbs is averaging over 6 yards per carry in his last 2 games, and the Lions simply need to get him the ball in this matchup. Against such a favorable opponent and likely favorable game script, there’s every reason to believe Gibbs is in position for a big night.
