Xam’s Daily Gems:
Yankees Money Line -185 DraftKings
The Yankees are playing like the best team in baseball right now, and southpaw Carlos Rodon is having a big season. He comes into tonight’s start with a 3.09 ERA and a sterling 2.13 ERA at Yankee Stadium this season. In fact, he’s given up just 6 earned runs in his last 4 starts combined! The Twins counter with righty Chris Paddack, who has a 4.57 ERA on the year and an ugly 6.85 ERA on the road! The Yankees are capable of scoring in DROVES at home, and they showed it yesterday with their 5 runs scored. Coming off their day off Monday, the Yankees should STILL have all their premium bullpen arms available! They have one of the best homefield advantages in the league and the Twins are showing themselves to be little more than an average team. If the Yankees can get their bats going again, they shouldn’t have ANY ISSUES claiming the series tonight!
Rangers Money Line -130 FanDuel
Rangers starter Jose Urena didn’t have a good impression against his former team in his last start, but he’s still having a nice season for the Rangers. He has a 3.74 ERA and a STERLING 1.35 ERA at home! Kenta Maeda for the Tigers meanwhile has struggled mightily. He has an ugly 6.35 ERA and that goes up to an unsightly 10.40 ERA on the road this season! It’s been a slog for the Rangers this year, as the reigning World Series Champions try and climb their way back to .500. However, the offense has been fine for the most part. They’re averaging 4.36 runs per game this season. The issue has been the pitching inconsistency. The Tigers don’t hit much themselves, so if the Rangers can get their bats going, they shouldn’t have ANY ISSUES coming out of this game with a win!
Padres Money Line -148 DraftKings
The Padres send their ace Dylan Cease to the mound tonight. He’s been as advertised since they got him, posting a 3.42 ERA so far this season. He’s also been better on the road than at home this year, posting a 2.79 road ERA. Jose Soriano goes for the Angels tonight, who has a 3.86 ERA on the road but has struggled recently, to the tune of a 4.10 ERA in his last 7 starts and giving up 8 earned runs in his last 2 starts. The Padres SHOULD have enough offense to get it done and with their loss yesterday should have all of their premium arms available. In short, the Angels are a bad baseball team, the Padres have the better pitcher, better lineup, and better bullpen in this one.
Mariners Money Line -154 FanDuel
We are riding the Mariners yet AGAIN! Logan Gilbert goes in this game for the Mariners. He has been solid all season long, with a 3.29 ERA. In 9 career appearances against the Athletics, he has a 3.33 ERA. The A’s counter with righty Joey Estes, who has an unsightly 6.10 ERA through 4 starts this year and a 6.46 ERA through the first 6 starts of his career. The Mariners are one of the hottest teams in baseball right now, winners of 4 straight and 8 of their last 9. Meanwhile the A’s are a woeful 24-38 and losers of 7 of their last 10 games. They just aren’t scoring any runs this year, averaging 3.77 runs per game. In this type of game tonight, that’s not going to work. The Mariners were off Monday so all of their relievers SHOULD be available tonight! If they can put some runs on the board they shouldn’t have ANY ISSUES getting the series win tonight.
Luis Severino Over 4.5 Ks +100 FanDuel
Luis Severino has pitched well in his first season as a Met, coming into today with a 3.52 ERA. More importantly, he’s averaging just under 6 innings per start this season. In his last 7 starts, he’s averaging 6.1 innings per start! The Nationals are a league average strikeout team, but they can be very aggressive team that likes to swing. What also favors Severino is the atrocious bullpen the Mets have. Manager Carlos Mendoza has been trusting his starters more and more recently, and that should continue today with Severino. The key for Severino will be attacking the strike zone and keeping his pitch count in check. If he can stay around in this game, he should be able to rack up PLENTY of strikeouts!
